2024 Total Solar Eclipse

  • The Lakeside Motel 349 Main Street Wellington ON Prince Edward County K0K 3L0 Canada (map)

The County is in the “path of totality” where the sun will be completely blocked by the moon. This once-in-a-lifetime event will not happen again until 2399, more than 400 years from now. In Picton, the total eclipse is predicted to begin at 3:21 PM and last for 3 minutes and 2 seconds.

As you prepare to witness this natural phenomenon, we want to ensure a safe, responsible, and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Choose Safe Viewing Methods:
– Looking directly at the solar eclipse without proper eye protection is extremely dangerous and could lead to permanent eye damage. You must use high-quality eye protection to view the eclipse.

Respect Surroundings:
– Be mindful of your surroundings and avoid disturbing wildlife or plants in the area where you choose to view the eclipse.

Plan Your Arrival and Departure:
– Arrive early to secure a good viewing spot, but do not block roads or access points.

Stay Informed: Updates and information will be posted on The County municipality website, shared on social media and distributed through The County’s news and notices mailing list.

Let’s come together to marvel at the wonders of the universe responsibly.
